2009 - Instructions for writing homeworks and quizzes
These are the
instructions for writing and submitting homework and quiz.
Following these guidelines will increase the likelihood of prompt and
accurate
grading and recording of scores.
- Homework should be turned
in Wednesdays before 4pm outside of 201 E. Bridge (the lecture hall of
this course).
- Quiz due dates are listed
on the website, and it should be turned in to the box outside of 201 E.
Bridge, which is a different one from the homework;
please make sure that your problem set/quiz go into the correct section
boxes.
- Please write down your name,
section number, homework/quiz number.
- Please write your last
name first, and then first name, as the score sheet
is sorted by last name; this will help the graders recording your score.
- The student's name and
section number should be legibly
written on the top right-hand corner of the first page of each
problem. The student will not receive credit if the paper cannot
be identified.
- Homework and quiz without
section number will be deducted 1 point.
- Homework without names
will not be graded.
- If you have switched your
section, please mention that in your homework/quiz for better
bookkeeping of your grade.
- Remember: late homework
and quizzes should be submitted to your section TA
only, not head TA or the boxes mentioned above.
- Late HW/Quiz without any
extension granted will be accepted up to one week late for
1/2 credit.
- If you receive an
extension from the section TA, please mention the
condition on the front page. (e.g., extension granted from section
TA with full score or x% off). If there is no note, it will be taken as
late without extension, so it will be 50% off by default.
- If you receive an
extension from the Dean because of medical or personal issue, please attach
a doctor's note or mention the
Dean's extension on the front page of your work. In this case
the extension period will depend on your situation.
Any questions
about
grading should be directed to the head grader (Ming-Shr
Lin), not the graders or the section TAs.
